December – Christmas Lunch

On Wednesday 14 December 45 members and their guests met at Sotirios in Folkestone for our annual Christmas Lunch.

The food was delicious and plentiful and the service excellent and friendly.

At the end of the meal Julie thanked Julia and Maggie for all their hard work organising the lunch. Elisa, Romany and Gill were also thanked for the raffle which was then drawn and prizes chosen.

August – Fish, Chips and Prosecco on the beach

25 members with 2 prospective members and one very cute dog met on the prom opposite the Imperial hotel for this event. The weather typical of this Summer was a little overcast and breezy, but this didn’t dampen our spirits! Fish and chips served by Elisa, Gill and Margaret were washed down with prosecco or apple juice served by Daphne and a good time was had by all.

Many thanks go to the organisers Daphne and Elisa.

July- Summer Outing to Walmer Castle and Gardens

Despite struggling through heavy traffic, as the M20 was closed and ‘braving’ the over cast skies 14 members thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the castle and gardens.

Some members walked around the fabulous gardens while other’s explored the castle learning about it’s 500 year history.

Then we came together in the tearooms for a delicious cream tea and chat.

Our thanks go to Romany for all her hard work arranging the afternoon for us all

June – Ploughman’s Lunch

27 members stayed after the June monthly meeting to enjoy a Ploughman’s lunch washed down with a glass of fruit juice.

Elisa busy in the kitchen putting the finishing touches to the lunch.

Members enjoying their lunch; many wearing their decorated ‘coronation’ crowns that they had just finished making at the meeting. Many thanks to all those involved with buying, making and serving the lunch.

April – Biddy’s Bluebell Walk.

On Monday 24 April Biddy very kindly offered to host us at her home in Elham to enjoy a stroll around their woods to see the beautiful bluebells and wood anemones on display.

Neil her husband gave some members a guided tour around the 5 acres of woods, while others sat looking at the views over the Elham valley.

The rain held off and the sun shone so we were all able to sit outside for coffee and delicious biscuits served by Biddy.

A very lovely and memorable morning – our thanks go to Biddy and Neil for their hospitality.
