On Friday 13th November at 10 am we will be holding our sixth Zoom Monthly Meeting. We have Mike Brook, a Zoom Speaker, booked to give us a talk entitled ” A Christmas Miscellany”.
If you wish to ‘attend’ this virtual meeting and haven’t attended a Zoom monthly meeting before then please email Julie Andrews to be included in the participant’s list.
A new message from our President Margaret Alcock:
On March 17th we suspended meetings of Castle Green WI due to the impending lockdown and I wrote that we hoped to be able to hold a normal Annual Meeting in October. With hindsight that was very optimistic and although we are obviously reviewing the situation monthly, we cannot envisage meeting as normal until the New Year at the very earliest. We have received guidance from Nation Federation and East Kent Federation on how we can
proceed with Annual Meetings.
I know that the other WI’s in our Group have made the same decision and are not resuming meetings and their committees, like your committee, are doing everything they can to keep members informed and together. We are one of the largest WI’s in the East Kent Federation which brings its own problems.
Not all venues/halls have reopened and those that are open must abide by the strict regulations laid out by the Government. I listed some of these in the letter of July 27th which was sent to all members by email or post. (If you need a copy of this I will send it to you by email or post). In some cases the onus is on the hirer to thoroughly clean before and after each meeting, whatever that may involve. Your committee would have to do a risk assessment before each meeting and if we were in any doubt, we would have to cancel the meeting at very short notice. The safety and well being of our members, who are also our friends, is paramount.
At the time of writing, The White Hart in Hythe is closed because a staff member has tested positive for Covid-19 so we cannot be complacent.
We will continue to hold our monthly Zoom meetings which are proving successful. Please join us if you can. Please refer to our letter of July 27th for more information.
The Lads’ Club:
As you are aware, the Lads’ Club was due to be redeveloped this Summer. The plans have been on display in the Lads’ Club since last year. Unfortunately, due to Covid -19 this work has been postponed until next Spring and the hall will remain closed as they are unable to comply with the current regulations. We are obviously looking for temporary
accommodation should we be able to hold meetings, but this is not going to be easy.
Keep safe and keep well.
