June 2026

President Christine Farsquhar welcomed 38 members and 4 visitors to the June meeting. Hostesses Julie B, Julia C, Sarah H and Molly M were thanked as was Ann B for the beautiful vase of roses from her garden. Also Judth and Valerie for running the sales table.

The record of the last meeting was approved and signed. The treasurer brought us up to date with our finances.

Christine thanked all those who had helped at the Big Green Fair in Sandgate; on the day and by providing items for sale. We raised £205.00 which was donated to the Rising Sun Charity.

A smal numvber of green hearts and recycled tie peg bags from the fair were on sale on the sales table to raise further funds.

Christine gave a short report about the NFWI Annual Meeting which she and other members had “attended” at The Watch Party which was organised by South Hythe Morning WI.

Our speaker was Emma Gray from Rising Sun Charity which Castle Green WI is supporting this year. The charity supports victims of domestic abuse, women, children and men, and Emma’s talk was both troubling and enlightening as she described the work of the charity. Particularly poignant was a recording by a woman who described her situation and how the charity had helped her. Emma also told us about starter packs of personal and home essentials to help mainly women and children restart their lives.

Ann B gave the vote of thanks.
