When it is possible we will meet once again on the 2nd Friday of each month at the Lads’ Club, Rectory Lane, CT21 4PZ in Saltwood. Our meetings generally start at 10 am and finish by 12 noon. We begin with the President’s welcome, news and updates from both our Secretary and Treasurer. After the business part of the meeting we have plenty of time for coffee, cake and all important chat before settling down to listen to our speaker of the month or running one of our activities. Both talks and activities are varied and reflect the wide interests of our members. Each month we also run a raffle and a competition. In addition we have a well supplied sales table selling a selection of crafts, plants and books.
We try to provide activities for everyone and are always open to new suggestions. In the past our outings have been as far afield as the Royal Albert Hall and the nearer Bilsington Priory. Members can attend East Kent Federation events such as the Spring Day in Canterbury. We run short courses such as flower arranging and more regular activities like the T’ai Chi and Walking groups, as well as the popular lunch club and our annual Christmas lunch. Do have a look at our ‘what we do’ pages for details of all our other activities.
At present we have over 50 members who are a very sociable, welcoming and friendly bunch. During the pandemic we have gained 2 new members and are still open to anyone wishing to join us. At any one meeting 40 to 50 members will be present to meet old friends and make new ones.
