President Margaret Alcock welcomed 33 members and 2 guests to the March meeting. Fewer members than usual, but not surprising given the circumstances. She thanked Romany Cowans for the lovely flower display shown above.
Members were given details of forthcoming Federation events, although since the meeting 1 event has been postponed and 2 cancelled. (Please click here to see details). The Group Meeting is due to take place on May 15th at Brabourne and Smeeth Village Hall. The speaker will be Phil Sibbald who come highly recommended by other WIs in the group. His talk will be possibly entitled Baritone, Booze and Bling!
There will be a plant sales table at the April meeting. Please label any item you wish to sell with your name and the price on it. 10% of the purchase price goes to Castle Green funds.
Julie Andrews who runs our excellent website is looking for items to be put onto the History section. Julie will accept handwritten items as well as emails.
After coffee we welcomed our speaker Margaret Palmer who had decided not to have us decorating sugar eggs (due to the coronavirus) so instead she showed us how to make Easy Table Decorations. This involved red paper serviettes, white paper serviettes, thread, Sellotape and scissors. Having made it look easy we all then had a go with help from Margaret and with varying degrees of success. Margaret made this a fun morning and there was lots of laughter not only from our attempts, but also from Margaret’s comments and anecdotes.
As Christine Burgoyne said in her vote of thanks this was just what we needed in rather uncertain times.
Finally Margaret reminded all members to keep a look out on this website and to check their emails regularly (especially before setting off for an event or a monthly meeting) for updates during the current situation.
So many happy smiling faces in the 2 galleries !
