After coffee, cake, biscuits and chat we welcomed Mr. Dick Bolton who gave a very interesting illustrated talk about Blue Badge Guides. He and his wife had been Blue Badge Guides for Kent, Surrey and East and West Sussex
He first explained the very rigorous training that every potential guide must go through which takes in walking tours, coach tours and private car tours. Each guide must know about the local area, history, flora and fauna, architecture, archaeology, literature, politics, communication skills. The list seemed endless! At the end of the training there are equally rigorous written and practical exams. Mr. Bolton also gave us insights into his personal experiences of working as a Blue Badge Guide.
Jeanne Doorne won the competition with a flower from her garden.
