Friday July 9th was yet another overcast Summer morning, but undaunted 29 members of Castle Green WI made their way to Saltwood church where, by kind permission of the Revd. Barry Knott, our first physical meeting since March 2020 was held.
The chairs were set out in the churchyard (complying with government guidelines) and the tables were bedecked with our red gingham tablecloths upon which was a wonderful display of handicrafts and other items members had been busying themselves with during lockdowns.
At 10am Vice- President Marjorie Mitchell rang the bell calling us all to order and welcomed members, Zoomers and non-Zoomers, to the meeting. The business part of the meeting was dealt with swiftly and we were then free to enjoy catching up with friends and to admire the excellent handiwork on display.
Cold drinks and delicious home- made cup- cakes were available. There was a contented hum of conversation punctuated by bursts of laughter as we all enjoyed being together again.
Margaret Alcock gave a vote of thanks to the committee for arranging and organising the meeting not forgetting the four husbands who put out the chairs and tables. Just like old times!
On Friday 13th August there will be a Fish and Chips on the Beach lunch, with a glass of Prosecco. The cost will be £10.00 payable at the time of booking.
