February 2022

President Julie Andrews welcomed thirty-six members and one guest to the February meeting.

Mary Wheatley was thanked for the flower arrangement of Daffodils and Snowdrops, a hint of Spring. The minutes of the last meeting were read, approved, and signed.

Resolutions for NFWI Annual Meeting – members were asked to vote on which Resolution they would want to go forward for to the Annual Meeting in June; Tackling Digital Exclusion and Appropriate Sentencing for Non-Violent Women Offenders were the two chosen.

Romany Cowans asked if anyone would be interested in an outing later in the year. The response was very much in favour.

Knit and Natter – the next meeting is on February 17th at 2pm on Zoom. Jackie Vickerman showed members a Twiddle Muff made by one of our members.

Patchwork group – the next meeting is on February 21st at 10.00 am on Zoom.

Walking group – Gill Chapman drew members attention to a walk on Samphire Hoe on May 17th organised by East Kent Federation.

After coffee, cakes, and a chat with friends we welcomed our speaker Vena East. Vena told us about Tai Chi and how she got involved with it; she then invited us to stand (or sit) as she led us through gentle warm-up exercises. She then moved on to different movements explaining each one in turn. The grand finale came when Vena put on soothing music, and we went through all the movements again in one continuous sequence.

Kay Hygate gave the vote of thanks which was heartily endorsed by all the members.
