August 2020

For members of Castle Green WI, the second Friday in August means only one thing…The Potluck Lunch. This year, due to circumstances beyond our control, we had a Zoom Coffee Morning with 21 members attending some of whom were joining us for the first time. Nearly everyone was wearing a hat and had provided their our own coffee and cake. Both the hats and the cakes looked splendid and varied.

Kate Dilkes conducted a quiz which was 3 rounds of 12 questions. Congratulations to Mandy Elson who won with a total of 26 points. Mandy said that she was ably assisted by her mum, Jean Foord.

Some of you may remember that the President managed to draw her own ticket out the hat at last month’s meeting so this time a) , the President’s name was not in the hat and b) her daughter drew the raffle which was won by Annelies Brice.

Jackie Vickerman and Gill Chapman each read out a favourite poem.

Kay Hygate told us that it was World Lizard Day and gave us 3 amazing facts about lizards. As you can see she was also wearing a hat with lizards on it!

Barbara Thorburn said that she was willing to hold virtual patchwork/ quilting classes starting in September and suggested other classes/groups for members to consider.
