April 2021

President Margaret Alcock welcomed 24 members to the April meeting held on Zoom. Apologies were accepted and the record of the March meeting read, approved and signed.

The programme for meetings up to October 2022 is now on the website. Click here to see it. The September 2021 meeting will be of special interest to those members busy knitting squares because at this meeting the squares will be made into lap blankets which will be given to local nursing homes.

Treasurer Lynda Daly gave a brief financial report. At the time of writing, there are 58 members of whom 7 are dual members. Margaret Alcock thanked everyone for renewing their membership.

Biddy Fraser volunteered to be the Castle Green delegate at the East Kent Federation Annual Meeting on May 12th. This will be held on Zoom and will be a business only meeting.

The NFWI Annual Meeting which was to have been held at the Royal Albert Hall on June 8th will now be hybrid-virtual event.

There are some lovely Easter photos on the Blog.

The President also asked that members keep an eye on their trash/spam boxes because, believe it or not, sometimes computers dump Castle Green WI emails etc in these boxes. (I try not to take it personally! MA)

After a short coffee break Margaret welcomed our guest speaker, Kay Hygate who guided us step by step through the making of a Spring Wreath. Kay had sent us out the details of the materials needed so we were all prepared. Kay introduced the Christmas elf aka Chris Hygate who had helped us at the December meeting. The President was again helped by her PA aka her daughter Kathryn.

Silence reigned as we all concentrated on making flowers and leaves to put onto the base which of course we had made earlier. Kay told us that we would not be able to finish the wreaths in one session and she looked forward to seeing photos of the finished wreaths on the website.

Here are some images of Kay’s Spring Wreath to help you all finish off your creations.

Below is a gallery of those that have already been completed – They all look wonderful – well done everyone !!
